Sallie Tomato Novak Purse

Image
I noticed this pattern on the Sallie Tomato Facebook page and immediately fell in love with it.  I am a huge procrastinator so at the 99th hour I decided I would make this as a gift for a friend.  I prefer making and giving gifts as opposed to giving cash or a gift card even though it would be much much cheaper 😂. Sallie Tomato Novak Purse How I Did It I am endeavoring to use what is in my stash.  I had planned to one of my pattern of the month club patterns, but felt it would take way to long to complete since I only started working on the bag about 2 days before it was needed.  I ended up purchasing this pattern after seeing another sewer's version on the Sallie Tomato Facebook page. Fabric For the exterior, I used a light weight canvas fabric that was in my stash that I got from Hobby Lobby sometime ago. I used a quilting cotton for the interior and one part of the straps. The teal accent is cork that I bought from Sallie Tomato some time ago. Pattern Adjustment...

K.Dill Handmade Shiloh Crossbody, Sling, Hip Bag

Won't do my normal post because I am so far behind on my postings.  I still have items I have made in 2025 that I have not posted. Shiloh Crossbody, Sling, Hip Bag I had a birthday party to attend and needed a gift for the birthday girl.  Didn't know what I would make and as usual waited until the 99th hour to decide.  I am determined this year to use what's in my stash. Pattern Used I joined Bag of the Month Club and totally forgot until I got a new email with February's bag.  I took a look at January's bag and figured it would be simpler and quicker to sew.  January's bag was Shiloh . Materials Used The materials suggested did not include cork, but I chose to use it for the exterior since I had it on hand.  Cork and shoulder strap came from  Sallie Tomato .  Zippers and zipper pulls came from  Zipper Valley   The interior is a quilting cotton that I applied wax ( Greenland Wax ) to so that it would be water/stain repellant. Changes I u...

StyleArc's Mary-Ann Skirt

Image
OMG - only I can take a simple pattern that should take 2 hours tops and turn it into an all day sewing session - it was the simple, easy to install pockets that did me in 😂. I saw this skirt sewn up at my local fabric store and knew I wanted to make it.   Mary-Ann Skirt I won't do the traditional post because I have lost information about changes.  I normally write my modifications on the printed instructions but I don't know where I put them. Fabric :  Wool mini-herringbone pattern purchased at Legacy Fabrics .  What I remember about this fabric is that I wanted to make a pair of classic trousers but the fabric was a bit expensive so I opted for a skirt instead.   Pattern Changes :  I know I did a length adjustment of either 2" or 3".  I increased the dart width by X(?) amount.  The fabric is an extremely loose weave even with serging, so I added bias binding to the waistband and hemline (used scraps of fabric that I had - hence...
