Cielo Top - Sleeve Drama

Image
I am head over heels in love with the drama of the sleeve on this top even though making it stressed me out to the point the muscles in my neck started tightening up and was causing me pain. Closet Core Pattern Cielo Top I don't know why the simplest sewing causes me so much distress and takes so long. How I Did It This was the first time I made a top/dress from Closet Core Patterns  so I thought it was best I do a muslin since I needed a small bust adjustment. When I tried on the muslin there was significant gapping around the armhole in both the front and back. When I looked at the detail for the adjustment it didn't seem to make sense (like I know anything about pattern making) and it seem to be a whole lot of work.  I am a lazy sewer. I decide I would use my go to "Pattern Fitting with Confidence" by Nancy Zieman.  The problem I had was there was back yoke when you put the two pieces together it was "different" so I gave up on that idea and went back to

Montana Midi Dress Version 2

Image
This is my second version of Stylearc's Montana Midi Dress.  This time I went down one size and leff off the pockets.   Not doing my normal detail posting because I have already done that here . A couple of notes about this version. The fabric used was rayon challis and a quilting cotton for the lining of the bodice (I did not order enough fabric) I need to lengthen the bodice in the front - I was rushing to get this done so I could wear it before it got to cold.  The day I wore it I froze 😆.  I will make the adjustment next spring/summer when I make it again I did not add the pockets My new label

Making Jeans - An Exercise in Much Patience

I had a pretty simple sewing goal for 2019 - make one pair of good fitting jeans. Not so simple for my figure.  Well I missed that goal.  I do have a wearable muslin now, but I am still on my quest to make a pair of good fitting jeans. Stylearc Sandra Narrow Leg Jean (wearable muslin) How I Did It I will admit trying to make a pair of jeans terrifies me because I know it requires a lot of fitting adjustments.  One of Jalie's jeans pattern made Pattern Reivew's patterns of the year (forget which year) and I acutally tried that one first.  The fit was okay (with adjustments) but they just looked horrible on me so I tossed that pattern in the trash. Muslin #1 That pattern confirmed my fear so I found other items to make and 2019 came and went.  A couple of months ago I decided I would face my fear and make a pair this time using Stylearcs' Sandra Narrow Leg Jean . Stylearc's pattern seem to fit me fairly well, but I knew because they were jeans there would be more fitting
