My 70's Era - StyleArc Sandra Narrow Leg Jeans

Image
Someone at church said it looked like I stepped out of the 70's - I'll take it and own it 😅.  I love these jeans - it is one of my favorite patterns to make, but what I love even more is this fabric.   Sandra Narrow Leg Jeans When I spotted this fabric at JoAnn's several years ago in the kids section, it called out to me and said take me home.  How could I deny the kids section 😅.   So far I have made a jacket, a skirt, and now a pair of jeans out of it and I still have more which will probably end up being a dress. This post will contain mostly pictures because I have several blog post on this pattern (and the others styled with it).  The only changes I made was to remove the 1" shorten in the front and eliminated the hem in favor of a decorative thread. My topstitching is a mess and the decorative thread on the hem should have matched the color on the jacket hem,  but I reversed the threads on my serger and didn't have enough thread to correc...

Stacie Jean Jacket - A Perfect Imperfect Work of Art

Image
I have made this Style Arc pattern multiple times and on most of them I added machine embroidery, but on this one I decided I would leave it plain.  The is a "not so great quality" denim I bought at my local craft store. Stacie Jean Jacket I made this jacket over 3 years ago and I believe I wore it once and absolutely hated it because it was so boring.  It hung in my closet and I decided it was time to put it in the give away pile until I saw the book Represent! Embroidery by Bianca Springer. Using this book, I decided I would give my jacket "new life".  If I screwed it up it didn't matter because I was planning to put the jacket in the give away pile.  I chose 4 designs to try.  I had no previous experience with hand embroidery and I didn't bother trying to practice or learn the stitches, I just jumped right in. I started with the smaller designs on the front yokes and was not happy with how they turned out because they were not "perfect".  I got...

My Painted on Jeans

Image
I don't know where my head was when I cut out these jeans 😂 because I made no adjustments before cutting them out in my good fabric.  I cut this pattern out I believe sometime last year.  My first inclination after trying them on was to put them in the give away pile, but I have learned to walk away for a day or so and things most times magically look different. Cashmerette Ames Jeans How I Did It I call these my painted on jeans because that is what they look like to me in the hip/thigh area.  They feel absolutely comfortable, but I am not comfortable with the "painted on" look.  I forgot stretch fabric clings to your curves.  Actually I had an opportunity to add 1/2" by cutting the side seam allowance in half. Earlier I tried the pants and thought I was happy with the fit.  Before I serged the side seam I told myself to try them on one more time, however, I didn't listen to my wiser self 😂. I was sick when I had used my good fabric without any adjustmen...
