Patches & Tote #2

Image
I have really fallen in love with this Sew4Home  project.  The down side it takes about 60 minutes to embroider each patch but it is well worth it.  This one will also be given as a gift. Front Back I won't do my normal detail since I have already reviewed this one here .  I will however show more pictures.

A Little Sparkle

I had to let this one sit for a bit after it was almost completed.  I loved it when I tried it on before adding the closures.  The next day I tried it on I wasn't so happy - it just didn't drape properly and I knew I was because of the fabric I chose (the pattern called for a drapy knit). Lekala 4650 No way was I trashing this project - I had purchased this beautiful fabric from Marcy Tilton .  I let it sit on the dress form for a couple weeks.  I finally figured out how to get it to a point where I would be somewhat satisfied. Lekala 4650 How I Did It I ordered my fabric online since I have become totally frustrated with what my local fabric store has to offer.  It is a black jacquard cotton with an abstract woven pattern.  I was able to get it on sale for $12 per yard.  I even have enough left to make a skirt or possibly pants. I wanted something to sew that was easy and quick and this pattern fit the bill.  It was a 6 piece...

Fabric Instead of Sewing Machine

Yesterday I was in a buying mood and knew to steer clear of any sewing machine dealer.  Had I gone to a dealer I would have come home with a brand new sewing machine.  I chose to buy something more reasonable - fabric. I saw a tote the Sewing Patches Tote  on the sew4home site so I bought fabric to make it. Sewing Patches Tote How I Did It I won't give my normal details since detailed instructions can be found on the sew4home website.  The project is called the Sewing Patches Tote . The patches are free embroidery designs designed for 30wt Sulky thread.  Because of the thickness of the thread they suggest your embroidery speed be slowed downed.  Each design took over an hour to stitch out.  I only had a couple of solid color 30wt Sulky's threads but had plenty of 30wt Blendables so I used those. I messed up my patches because I did not cut close enough to the stitching line so the edges of the felt is not covered completely with thread....
