Upside Down But Still Cute - Tilly And The Buttons Sweatshirt and Dress

I need to run from directional fabric.  No matter how many times I mess up, I quickly forget me and directional fabric don't get along 😀.  Every time I see a pretty directional fabric I order it, forgetting that I will cut it upside down.  I am going to keep hope alive.  One day I am going to remember to to lay the pattern pieces in the right direction.   Lately I have been afraid to sew because I am in that "mess up" season in my sewing ( see last post ).  I had to force myself to sew - I needed to sew.  Sewing relieves my stress and gives me joy.  Even though I messed up - I still chose to have fun in my sewing. The pockets were driving me crazy (my fault) and I started to get discouraged and start a different pattern.  The problem is I have sooooo many UFO's right now it is ridiculous.   I had to have a talk with myself.  I had to tell myself the way the dress was made I would never use the pockets anyway and I gave m...

Tilly and the Buttons Olive Pinafore for me

Every so often I go through a period where my sewing is "off" and sewing is not as fun.  I seem to be in one of those periods now.  This was supposed to be an easy quick sew and I was only supposed to make one to test how it would look on me. I won't do my normal post since I have done a detail post here .   How did this go so wrong?  I cut the wrong size.  I am 2 sizes smaller on the top than the hip and I cut one size smaller than my hip - I didn't want to deal with adjustments. It is too big in the chest and in the waist area.  I also noticed some diagonal pull lines in the waist area pointing towards the darts.  They are a direct result of being to big in the chest area and too big in the waist area.  When I pinned out some of the extra fabric from the underarm down to the waist area the diagonal lines started to disappear.
