My 70's Era - StyleArc Sandra Narrow Leg Jeans

Someone at church said it looked like I stepped out of the 70's - I'll take it and own it 😅.  I love these jeans - it is one of my favorite patterns to make, but what I love even more is this fabric.

When I spotted this fabric at JoAnn's several years ago in the kids section, it called out to me and said take me home.  How could I deny the kids section 😅.   So far I have made a jacket, a skirt, and now a pair of jeans out of it and I still have more which will probably end up being a dress.

This post will contain mostly pictures because I have several blog post on this pattern (and the others styled with it).  The only changes I made was to remove the 1" shorten in the front and eliminated the hem in favor of a decorative thread.

My topstitching is a mess and the decorative thread on the hem should have matched the color on the jacket hem,  but I reversed the threads on my serger and didn't have enough thread to correct my mistake.  It is actually the same thread except the color on the front should be on the back of the fabric.

I honestly don't know how I ended up with almost the same color on both the back legs - it definitely wasn't intentional😅.  The pants are wrinkled because I had worn them out already today and refused to iron the wrinkles out when I got home.

Both the jacket and top are both StyleArc patterns - the Stacie Jean Jacket and the Besharl Knit Tee.

I had a high school reunion to go to and knew I wanted to make something but waited until the 99th hour before I chose a pattern. StyleArc's Loddon Woven Pant - Sheer Comfort

One word says it all - comfortable.  When this pattern came out a few months back, I loved it but wasn't sure if I would like the pants on me.  I am so glad I went with my first reaction because I love them on me.  If you are on the fence about this pattern - don't be - you will look great in them just like me 😁. I did sew during August 2023 but had several disappointing sewing failures including this pattern.  The failures were all my fault.  Sometimes my brain checks out on me and forgets to tell me that it is on vacation😊. In Living Color - Love Notions Bridget Trousers

Oh my - when I signed up for this pattern test I did not realize it was due the same day as the start of my high school class reunion for which I knew I would make an outfit.  I was so stressed out and sleep deprived and that translates into mistakes. On any pants pattern, I always have to raise my back rise 1" and when I am rushing and not paying attention, I will make the disastrous mistake of making the change on the outside (thigh area) rather than the inside crotch curve.  How about I did this on the first 3 pairs and couldn't figure out why my back leg kept being longer than the front leg (the tell tell sign that I have made this mistake) because I was so exhausted.  It finally hit me when I was stitching up the 3rd pair 😄. Another UFO completed 😄.  I started this one July 2024 and was forced to complete February 2025.  My niece is a huge Chiefs fan and she wanted something with the Chiefs logo embroidered on it.  She gave me an idea of what she wanted, I chose some patterns for her to review, and this is the one she chose. How I Did It This pattern was quite easy but I just lost my sewjo after starting it.   After she selected the pattern, I search some online fabric shops for fabric.  I ended up ordering from  Marcy Tilton  because she had a sale going on at the time. StyleArc's Mary-Ann Skirt

 OMG - only I can take a simple pattern that should take 2 hours tops and turn it into an all day sewing session - it was the simple, easy to install pockets that did me in 😂. I saw this skirt sewn up at my local fabric store and knew I wanted to make it.   Mary-Ann Skirt I won't do the traditional post because I have lost information about changes.  I normally write my modifications on the printed instructions but I don't know where I put them. Fabric :  Wool mini-herringbone pattern purchased at Legacy Fabrics .  What I remember about this fabric is that I wanted to make a pair of classic trousers but the fabric was a bit expensive so I opted for a skirt instead.   Pattern Changes :  I know I did a length adjustment of either 2" or 3".  I increased the dart width by X(?) amount.  The fabric is an extremely loose weave even with serging, so I added bias binding to the waistband and hemline (used scraps of fabric that I had - hence...

Stylearc's Eme Dress

 I bought this pattern when Stylearc had a sale.  What drew me to it was it's simple silhouette and the cocoon hemline.  You can dress the dress up or down and it looks good either way and it has pockets. How I Did It Look at the finished measurements for this dress, not your size.  This dress has a lot of ease and runs large.  I went one size down from my typical size and really could have gone down one size more possibly and still been fine. Fabric I ordered fabric for this make - surprise surprise.  I selected the Mod Spot Linen Shirting Print in Natural and Paprika  from Style Maker Fabrics. Pattern Alterations I would normally cut a 22 but based on the finished measurements I chose a 20. I struggled with that decision so much so that I added 1" to the hip area even though the finished measurements had more than enough room.  Big mistake and I had to remove it.  I continue to battle with loose and just too dang big. StyleArc's Tommie Jeans Skirt Is Singing My Love Language Today

When this pattern came out I knew I wanted to make it and bought it immediately.  Well it's been a few months since I purchased and I am so glad I finally got a chance to sew it up.  I like it even more than I thought I would. My 2019 sewing goal was to make a good fitting pair of jeans.  It has been a two year journey and I have found at least one pattern that works for me. A Beautiful Piece of Art Just for Me

It was a frustrating sewing day - I broke another machine.  In the last month I have broke 3 machines.  My beloved Babylock Evolve is now in the shop - I did not know that I had stripped the screw that holds one of the needles until I tried to change it and could not get the needle out.  It got worse from there but I won't relive it. In my last post I made a skirt for a young lady that I am teaching to sew.  I was a pattern tester for the Flora Skirt  by Daniela of   On The Cutting Floor .  Initially I did not make the skirt for me because I didn't think I liked it for me but after making it for her I knew I had to have one for me. I won't go into as much detail as normal because I have already reviewed this once here .  I will hi-lite the differences in this one. A Wrong Cut Turned Into A Beautiful Piece of Art

My word for me today is Jehovah-Jireh (The Lord Will Provide) - "And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."  Philippians 4:19 Daniela Gutierrez of   On The Cutting Floor  had a call for testers of her Flora Skirt pattern.  I took a look at the pattern but wasn't too terribly impressed and thought "not my cup of tea".  I am teaching a young lady to sew and when she came for class I thought this pattern might work for her.  I showed her the picture and asked if she liked the skirt and she said yes.  I told her I would make it for her and answered the tester call once again.
