Summer Ready - Almost

Image
Follow my blog with Bloglovin</a>This week has been exhausting. I drove 18 hours round trip one direction and then 14 hours round trip hours in another direction - some vacation.  I needed a pick-me-up so I ignored the huge fabric stash I have on hand and took a trip to Hobby Lobby for cotton jersey and then pulled out my Frankie Baseball T-Shirt pattern. I don't feel too bad about buying more fabric because I used it right away.  I now have a new justification for buying more fabric 😀. All I can say is this t-shirt is sooooooo comfortable, sooooooo easy to sew, and so cool for our ridiculously hot weather right now.  I need one for every day of the month and jeans so I can be in heaven on earth. I won't go into my normal detail since I already did it in this blog post.  I did make a couple of changes. I originally shortened the sleeve 3" but reduced it to 2" after making the first one.  I decided the bodice length was fine (originally I...

I printed this pattern and put it together months ago and never got around to making it.  By the time I finally got around to it I did not want to use the fabric I had already selected.  I am determined to use the fabric in my stash and although it was tough not to go buy new "summer" fabric I stuck with what I had. Lekala 4748 How I Did It I used fabric from my stash and it was really hard to work with.  It constantly moved while trying to cut it.  I am not sure what fabric it is but it looks similar to a microfiber.  I definitely had to use my walking foot when sewing it together. I made a of couple adjustments.  The first adjustment was a 1" sway back adjustment.  The back had 2 pieces - the yoke and the bottom back.  To do this adjustment I folded the yoke in half and temporarily taped the back bottom to the back yoke. For the second adjustment I shortened the neck tie 4" - 2" on each end. After making my ad...

My Frankie Baseball T-Shirt

Today was supposed to be a satisfying sewing day - NOT.  I have a shirt already cut out but the fabric will be a pain and I wanted something easy today so I decided on a dress and assembled the pattern ( quick and easy assemble method ). The pattern is designed for a knit but when I put the pattern up to my body I was concerned that it would not fit properly even with a knit fabric.  Since this was supposed to be a custom fit pattern I was aggravated that it didn't appear to fit.  I decided to cut a muslin before cutting into my fabric  before I realized I did not have enough fabric for a muslin - more aggravation. I recently bought the book Tilly and the Buttons Stretch!  and decided to use one of its patterns.  I chose the Frankie Baseball T-Shirt pattern included with the book.  I was so desperate to sew something "quick and easy" that I didn't even care if the shirt fit. Frankie Baseball T-Shirt How I Did It I was desperate to sew somet...
