Charity Sewing - 2021 Sweet Dreams for Seniors Pillowcase Project

Image
I have been lax in my charity sewing so when The Sewing Lab  announced their 2021 pillowcase project I knew this was something that would be quick and easy for me to do.  They actually provided kits with everything you needed to make them, but I chose to use my own fabric because I am drowning in fabric 😊.  I chose to make 8 of them. I used Sulky's Love & Hugs Pillowcase instructions .  I really love the instructions for this pillowcase - all the seams are enclosed so the pillowcase is clean finished on the inside and out. I won't do my normal post because it's not needed, but I am including pictures below.

Sew House Seven's Elemental Pencil Skirt

Earlier this year Sew House Seven posted on Instagram advertising their free Elemental Pencil Skirt pattern - so I downloaded it.  These days I love quick and simple patterns and this is another one that fits the bill. Elemental Pencil Skirt How I Did It I have a pear like shape and I knew I was taking a risk with a pencil skirt, but I also knew that with the right top I could balance out my shape. I made this skirt April 2021 but am just now posting because I did not have a top that would balance my shape.  This past weekend was chilly and the skirt fabric is really thick.  I convinced myself that my hips had shrunk, and I would find a top to make it work so I could wear it to church 😄. Fabric I did purchase fabric for this skirt.  I got 1 yard of  Rainbow Exotic Leaves Bamboo Stretch French Terry from Nature's Fabric.  The site shows they have 1 yard left.  The fabric is super soft and warm.  The bright and vibrant colors are what made it "speak" to me. Tilly And The Buttons Billie Sweatshirt Dress #2

What can I say except that I love love love this dress.  It is soooooo comfortable and easy to make.  I believe I started on it about midnight and finished it about 3am and wore it to church today (I did use a modesty scarf to cover my legs while sitting).  The time included a snack break and moments of watching re-runs that I have seen a thousand times 😊. I won't do my normal post since I have already done it here .  I did change my pattern adjustments, so I will list them again. I did a multi-step zig-zag at seam allowance for the rib knit and that was a huge mistake.  The fabric - a light weight french terry and rib knitting from Stylemaker Fabrics was too light for this stitch, so I have major rippling on the cuffs and hem. I will attempt to steam it again to try to flatten it out. Pattern Adjustments I cut a 9 at the top and graded out to a 10 at the hip and waist and I love how it looks on me.  I shortened the sleeves 2" and shortened the dress length only 1" this
