Lekala 4646 - I Conquered ITY

Image
Me and ITY have been in a battle and I finally won - I sewed ITY knit without stretching it - I conquered ITY knit! The pattern suggests a low stretch fabric and I bought fabric before I read the fabric recommendations. ITY stretches in every direction.  The first version with ITY wasn't bad but I knew it could be better.  For some reason I pull my fabric unconsciously and even with a walking foot I still managed to stretch my fabric - but not this time! Lekala 4646 I had to make a conscious effort to let my machine feed the fabric since it does it so well. How I Did It This is the 4th sew of this pattern so I will only show differences.  You can find the last post here .  The first time I used an ITY knit I stretched the neckline and hemline and I tried to walk away because I had successfully made  2 other versions in a woven. It bothered me that I was not as successful with the knit so I bought more ITY to make another (stash busting has gone by the way side).  I

Lekala 5126 - Version 2

Lately I have been using Lekala patterns exclusively and have remarked "Oh How I love Lekala".  Now I will explain why.  Please understand that I am not getting paid money or anything else from Lekala.  When I find something that works for me I like to share it with others in the hopes that it will work for them also. Subconsciously Hiding my Bigger Left Hip Lekala 5126 I will explain later in this post why I am not actually modeling the pants.  Pants really look best on a model. Lekala 5126 My body has changed significantly and I need to make adjustments - major adjustments.  Making the adjustments became time consuming and really frustrating.  By the time I finished my adjustments I didn't want to sew.  Sewing is my relaxation so I needed to find a solution. I don't remember how I stumbled upon Lekala - I am just glad I did. So what is it that a I love about Lekala? I start with a pattern for my measurements which means means I may only need t

Not My Grand Kids

I don't have grandchildren so why did I end up staying up all night making 2 aprons for Me Maw's grand kids - by opening my big mouth. I had one of the grand daughters in my Sunday School class so after church Me Maw strongly requested I accompany them to Pizza Ranch for dinner so I did.  While at dinner I starting suggesting all kinds of things they could do while at Me Maw's  (unsolicited suggestions). One of the things I suggested was baking cookies so of course they had to have aprons and a chef's hat for making cookies.  I suggested Me Maw make them while teaching the grand daughters to sew and got the "look".  After a bit more discussion and the grand daughters being super excited about the thought of sewing, it became my job. Their just wasn't enough time to incorporate sewing training  into the plan or to make the chef's hat.  So I made the aprons and bought fabric paint so they could personalize it and make it their own later.

Lekala 4646 - Take 3

When I made the other 2 versions of this pattern I decided I wanted a solid fabric for the third make.  I went to my local fabric store and saw a solid white fabric and another print fabric and bought a couple yards of each. The print spoke to me so I don't have a solid color version of this top and don't know that I will because there are too many other Lekala patterns I want to try. The black line on the right is an unintended consequence of picture editing. Back Lekala 4646 Front Sleeve Lekala 4646 Conclusion I only added pictures this time because I have already done a review of this pattern ( Lekala 4646 Versions 1 and 2 ).  Everything I did with the others I did with this one. I think this is my last one - still not sure if I will make a solid version of this.  It is such an easy sew I probably will.  This is my favorite of the 3.  I love love love this print and fabric. What's Next Still no idea.  Maybe a pair of pants or skirt
