January's Project Linus Blanket

Image
After my accident my sewing seemed to fall by the wayside and I missed making 4 Project Linus blankets.  I am back on track starting the new year right. Without the Binding How I Did It Majority of my baby blankets are made the same - 9 blocks with some borders and this one was no different. Every thing came from my stash except for the batting (I was out of it).  This project was a bit different in the sense I wasn't necessarily worried about everything matching.  I used blocks from a batik layer cake I had and some pre-cut batik strips and orange thread. My plan was to play with ruler work using rulers I bought about 3 years ago but have never used.  I quickly found my rulers were too small for the 10" squares so I decided to use some of the many stitches I have on my machine instead. I gave myself the freedom to play by creating "pebbles".  I didn't do as good as I would have liked but I'm okay with the result.  Now I have decided that I w...

Sewing Plans for 2019

Everyone was making sewing news years resolutions and I got caught up last year and made one too, knowing full well there would be a 99.9999999% chance that I would not met that particular goal. Why - because I am too easily distracted and of course I didn't meet it.  I said I would not make one this year because I didn't want not meet it again (fail).  I am going to press on and make a new goal for 2019 but this time I am being reasonable.   My sewing goal for 2019 is to make at least one pair good fitting jeans.  The pattern that I have been thinking about is Closet Case Patterns Morgan Boyfriend Jeans .  The other pattern that has been on my mind and one that I already have is Closet Case Patterns Jenny Overalls . I do plan to sew other things but my one sewing goal for 2019 is a pair of good fitting jeans.   Why This Goal I am down to one pair of jeans and the fit is absolutely horrible.  They are too big (I have lost a few p...

Simple Apron

Image
I was looking for a simple apron I could sew, something that I could also add simple embroidery to - I found both. I got the apron from sew4home .  I bought stripped ticking duck cloth for this project.  I love the simplicity of this apron and the grommet used to adjust the neck strap.  Sew4Home has really great sewing instructions on their site for this apron so I will skip my construction steps. The embroidery design came from Urban Threads - the  Spice It Up II design pack.  I have ordered embroidery designs from them before and their digitizing is top notch.  I really love their designs. Final Sewing Projects Completed in 2018

Image
These are the last items I completed in 2018.  One I finished tonight (the purse) and the others I finished sometime in December and just got behind in my posting. Hubby & Wife T-shirts Baby Blanket, Burp Cloth, and Bib The burp cloth and bib are a hot mess.  As usual I was in a rush and when I'm in a rush I create a hot mess. Purse I like to call this purse the date night bag.  As I was taking pictures I realized my pictures on it were upside down.  This is a gift for someone and they will get it with this "design feature".  I have to slow down so I don't miss glaring problems like this one.
