Stylearc Jara Knit Tunic

Image
OMG - this pattern was an absolute joy to sew. StyleArc Jara Knit Tunic How I did It I can't explain why I had fun sewing this tunic - I can only say I just did.  I remember saying to myself after completing it "this was so much fun".  It is feels amazing next to my skin.   Every time I buy a directional fabric (something with letters or numbers) I always forget that I need to lay every piece in the same direction 😄.  The great thing about this fabric is it is so busy that unless you really look at it you will miss my "design" feature. Fabric I bought fabric specifically for this pattern.  I purchased Butterfly Letter Silhouette Sweatshirt Fleece from my at the moment favorite fabric store Style Maker Fabrics, but I no longer see it on their website. I really love the fabric and I really love the pattern.  What drew me to the pattern was the pleat detail at the sleeve hemline and hipline.  This was one time fabric really mattered.  I n...

OESD Reverse Applique Notebook Covers

Image
I was going through my Instagram feed and noticed OESD Reverse Applique Notebook Cover designs and decided to buy.  I wanted it because they used cork fabric and I had been wanting to try a project that used cork fabric (it didn't matter that I already had bought a book that had cork fabric projects in it). I bought 2 pre-packaged fat quarters of cork fabric from Hobby Lobby and used fabric from my scrap pile.  I made both notebook covers from one fat quarter. I won't do my normal review because the designs come with detailed instructions but here are the particulars and my experience using them. There are 10 designs, 5 for the 5 x 7 notebook cover and 5 for the 4 x 6 notebook cover It required use of a fusible woven but I used whatever I had on hand The instructions were very easy to follow I used some kind of rayon blend fabric for the inside and did notice that even with the adhesive stabilizer there was some unraveling of the fabric and I was concerned that over time the s...

Charity Sewing - Pillowcases for Nursing Homes

Image
It has been sometime time since I have done any sewing for charity because I have been selfishly sewing for myself mostly.  I have done a couple baby blankets gifts this year but I don't include that in my charity sewing. I won't do my normal post because all the project instructions are posted on Sulky's website here , I will only mention that I had a hard time using fabric from my stash because it was "too pretty" and I did not want to cut into it 😊.  The fabric had been in my stash at least 5 years but it was probably more like 7 or more. The organization sponsoring this requested "Christmas" type fabric.  I seriously considered buying new fabric to make them but thankfully I stopped being ridiculously and used what I had in my stash. The organization provided fabric for you but their fabric didn't inspire me so I chose my own.  Here are the pictures.

Megan Nielsen Rowan Curve

Image
I was chosen to be a pattern tester for the Rowan Curve.  I sign up to be a tester and then I get stressed out when I get the pattern and it is time to make the garment 😀. Megan Nielsen's Rowan Curve How I Did It I don't really like bodysuits because I don't have the shape for them, but I wanted to make it because of the challenge.  I had never made one and I knew it would "push" me a bit in my sewing. I have made this pattern 3 times, but am only keeping the last version because the first 2 version needed a bit more room in the bust area. After the first version why would I make the second version in the same size? Who knows 🤣. The first and second make I used size 20 for the bust and size 24 for the waist and hip.  Although it fit, I wanted a bit more width in the bust area.  For the final version (third) I used size 22 for the bust and size 24 for the waist and hip. Sewing was really easy for me except when attaching the elastic to the leg area.  I tried ...
