Closet Core Patterns Free Sewing Machine Cover

Image
I have used this free pattern so many times I have lost count now.  This one is for a young new sewer who is getting first sewing machine on her birthday.  I decided to make her one as a gift. I won't do my normal post since I have already done that here . There was no well thought out plan when making this.  I allowed myself to do whatever came to mind, so there were "mistakes" made but I fixed them and they became "design" features.  This was a stress free sewing session. My main goal was to use my overflowing scrap fabric pile.  I chose denim strips and cut as wide and long as I could.  There were 3", 3.5", 4", and 5" strips.  Once the sewn strips were wide enough I cut 8.5" squares I believe.  I sewed the squares together to make big enough pieces to cut the pattern. I added some straight lines and diagonal lines using a 12wt cotton thread.  I also added embroidery designs and font from Bunnycup embroidery.  The lining is made out of...

Total Comfort - Style Arc Kim Swing Top and Laura Knit Leggings

Image
The more I sew the more I want easy to sew and comfortable to wear.  These two patterns fit the bill.  I finished the top about a month ago and the leggings about 6 months ago but am just now getting around wearing it and taking pictures. StyleArc Kim Swing Top & Laura Knit Leggings How I did It I will only will focus on the top since I already reviewed the leggings here .  This top was only 3 pieces, front, back, and the sleeve. What really drew me to this pattern was its angle lines and length.  I have made about 10 pairs of the Laura Knit Leggings and I need some tops besides the 3  hoodies  I made to wear with them. Fabric I ordered some bamboo jersey knit for this top - OMG it is so soft against my skin.  I used some kind of ITY that I bought at my local fabric store for the leggings.  In other words I did not use anything from my stash of fabric (I already had some bamboo jersey in my stash). Pattern Alterations/Adjustments Shortened the...

Megan Nielsen Flint Curve Pants #2

I made these before so I don't why I chose to screw them up this time.  Anyway, they are wearable and look decent.  I won't do my normal post since I have already done that here with version 1 . How did I mess them up?  I raised the back crotch 1" and now they have pooling at the back.  A second change I made was at the waistband - I chose to use 2 buttons rather than the tie.  The third change I made was I did the cropped version.  The last change I made was I went down 1 size.  I found with the bigger size that once I started moving around they seemed to grow and I found myself constantly pulling them up. Some Finished Pictures (I know - the buttons are horrible - I used what I had)
