Yanta Overalls by Helen's Closet
Another UFO completed 😁. I started this pattern February 2021 and got everything completed except for adding the buttons and buttonholes. Throughout the construction process I constantly checked the fit of the front and back.
I tried them on one final time to see where I needed to place the button and it was then for the first time I turned to the side and wanted to cry. There was an enormous amount of gapping. I liked them too much to throw away or give away but I knew I would not wear them, so I put them away.
Fast forward to today and me losing my sewjo. I haven't really felt like sewing for months and I have had to force myself to sew. I decided that I would work on UFO's in a hope to get my sewjo to return. I pulled out this pattern and made the necessary fix to make them wearable.
How I Did It
- Fabric
- Stretch denim (maybe 10 0z) - the pattern called for a woven
- Don't remember if it was in my stash or if I purchased it for this pattern
- Pattern Adjustments
- Used a 3/4" seam allowance - the pattern calls for a 5/8" seam allowance
- I raised the pockets 1 1/2" but don't remember if it was the front or back pockets. I suspect it was the back pockets
- I shortened the length 3"
- I shortened the straps 2"
- On each side I removed 2" (started 5" down the side and increased the width until it measured 2" at the waistband )
